Jeep decided to take the old done and tired road of racing an airplane which has been done many times before and reinvent it. This time you get to see an SUV race an aerobatic airplane and it’s not as bad as you might think it is. Watch this Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Race an Aerobatic Plane in the video below and light up some popcorn for extra enjoyment:
The race took place at the Blyton Park Driving Center in Lincolnshire, England since this ad was done by the peeps at Jeep UK. It included the Grand Cherokee SRT SUV ofcourse and a Silence SA110 Twister single-prop aerobatic plane that tops out at 178-mph. Now, this isn’t an Zivko Edge 540 V3 which probably would have wiped the floor with the SUV. The 540 V3 is capable of top speeds that reach 265 mph and a 420° per second roll rate.
But then again, this is just a gimmicky but creative ad by Jeep to attract more customers to their performance SUV that packs a HEMI 6.4-liter V-8 engine rated at 475-hp, and remind them of the HEMI engine planes heritage and how it inspired the creation since it was originally designed for the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter plane of World War II.
Who would have thought you would be able to see a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT race an Aerobatic Plane, I know i would have never imagined the match up in a million years. Kudos to Jeep for taking a different take on the standard boring car ad.
