The future is looming around the corner and Volkswagen gears up by hiring 1,000 new IT experts to tackle the impending era of technology and autonomous advancements.
The VW group hired all these experts and spread them around the company in different sectors for high-tech development and implementation in current and new generation Volkswagen group vehicles.
The experts were gathered from all sorts of backgrounds and industries like the gaming industry and the top-level research so they could help the group further develop their autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, smart connectivity and virtual reality.
More than half of the new employees will be assigned to the Wolfsburg headquarter in the core IT labs while the others will be placed in Munich and Berlin.
Dr. Karlheinz Blessing, Member of the Board of Management of the Volkswagen Group said that: “People who want to shape the future of mobility are coming to Volkswagen”, he also added that “We are tackling the major challenges of the future with the best people: digitalization, software development, E-mobility, autonomous driving and mobility services.”
Volkswagen also mentioned they were recruiting from the fields of design thinking, robotics, level design and AI research.
Dr. Martin Hofmann, CIO of the Volkswagen Group also said that: “The tasks we face are more varied and interesting than ever before”, he also explained what IT means in this situation “In the global mobility group Volkswagen, IT means: international cooperation, versatile working in fast, creative teams and the most advanced technology.”
