A lot of claims are made everyday by different car manufacturers saying we can do this better, we are faster, this that bla bla.. If you happen to be familiar with the supercar crowd, you’d know that the new Dodge Viperv V10 is on par with the GT-R Nismo Edition and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 not to mention other supercars since they are out of the price range.
But, what some of you may not know is that there was a previous 2nd generation Dodge Viper ACR and it was one of the fastest supercars on the Nürburgring holding a lap record of 7:12.13 being the 7th fastest on the German track. But we also know that Lamborghini just beat that record with their new Aventador SV in 6:59 and well that a big gap if you ask us. Dodge decided to make another ACR but this time managed to smash all 13 records on some of Americas fiercest tracks smashing records set by the Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1.
The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR was almost 2 seconds quicker on Laguna Seca than the Porsche 918 which is a tad quicker than the McLaren p1. The thing is; the standard Dodge Viper is a headache to deal with as it faces alot of issues that were not addressed by Dodge yet – Issues like heat flooding the cabin from the side exhausts, car feels like it’s about to kill you when you are trying to go fast on the track and well the snakes venomous 8.4L V10 powerhouse is the largest displacement motor after the Bugatti and is quite the gas guzzler (It does sound glorious though).
These are the track times recorded by the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR:
