Every serious car enthusiast knows about the Hennessey Performance Engineering team and their crazy tuning skills on American Muscle cars and some luxury cars as well. In a nutshell, they ussually crank HP numbers up by atleast 300+ from the factory rating, and as John Hennessey founder of Hennessey Performance says “American cars usually have allot of free power to be extracted from the factory”
We wrote about the amazing Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 a while back and we really though it was the ultimate Camaro with its all-aluminum V8 7.0 Litre LS7 engine which produces 505 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque and features a dry sump oiling system, High-lift cam and titanium valves. It was even better than the Camaro ZL1. But let’s cut to the chase here, we all want to know what the 2015 Hennessey Camaro Z/28 HPE1000 brings to the table.
The 2015 Hennessey Camaro Z/28 HPE1000 brings 807 horsepower and 706 pound-feet of torque. This happens due to forged pistons and rods connected to an upgraded crankshaft and a new intercooler coupled with high flow fuel injectors and an upgraded valvetrain to manage all that extra power. What did the Z/28 lack compared to the ZL1? How about a 2.9 Liter supercharger which puts things into perspective.
It isn’t all too final till now, as the HPE team is still polishing things out until they are sure everything is balanced in terms of power and handling as one package. Until they hit the 1,000 mile break-in mark on the engine we will have to further investigate later on.
