The future of our generation is built on hopes and dreams that are based on making everything as efficient as possible. What the future will Look like in 30 years in regards to transportation is predictable; if you look at the pace of current tech developed in the last century.

Several Corporate giants are dedicating entire R&D labs to study and improve autonomous and AI implementation into real life, so this is what I think is going to happen within the next 30 years or so.

We will have 50 percent more autonomous vehicles and machines on the road

What the Future Will Look like in 30 Years

By 2050, expect to see a large share of electric autonomous machines roaming the roads and dealing with transportation needs. Self-driving pods take you to work, the hyperloop might materialize and heavy autonomous machinery deals with transporting construction equipment.

Dubai has already planned to have a quarter of car trips to be autonomous by 2030, they expect to save over $6 billion a year in accidents, transportation and pollution costs.

Trips are planned and the pods go in loops, i’m envisioning a sort of renewable subscription system that allows you to reserve a shuttle pod to your job and back home. Premium rates will probably be applied if you don’t want to share the pod with anyone else; sort of like Gold and Silver class in Dubai’s Metro. You will also be able to control all trips via your app, if you’re late for work or have some sort of different arrangement.

Watching Science Fiction movies might prompt you to believe that transportation will be headed for the skies, but I think we’re far from that. To enable people to actually fly within the city; means we’d have to build an entire new traffic and lane system in the skies above the city, which would also be restricted to no more than 500-2,500 ft.

The closest thing we might have to an easily operable flying machine has to be related to hover technology, similar to what you see with hover drones used for recording aerial shots.

Then we have to deal with the biggest issue: heavy, low life batteries. As i explained before in this article, batteries are far from being optimized compared to the electric motor.

If people were to fly using common tech, it could be developed mini jet powered pods that have limited altitude and a restricted air license. Or autonomous flying drones. China, “Shenzhen” produces over 90 percent of the entire world’s drones and provides them to the public, this might indicate that Asia will indeed pave the way for human-operated mini drones.


Walking might be a thing of the past

With newly emerging technology powered by electric motors like the hoverboard, electric bicycles, unicycles and walk wings. People might start referring to “walking” as an exercise. As funny as this might sound, there are visible traces of change with the younger generation preferring mindless tech like the hoverboard as opposed to indulging with normal sport activities.

And if anything signals change to corporates, it’s always the younger generations they always target for the biggest paydays. Expect to see an onslaught of wearable electronic devices that speed up the walking process.


Wearable racing tech available to the public

Helmets can do plenty of things besides protecting you from damage during an accident. They could provide water via a tube, air under water, and information on the front glass panel. They can also integrate cameras to record events, display GPS locations and navigation screens on the glasses in addition to communication and sound integration.

The possibilities are endless, simplified wearable tech might be used to help ease route selection during hikes and adventures while also providing protection. This is especially necessary when you can’t use your hands and could do with sound-command operations integrated within the helmet like issuing SOS calls.

I’m guessing at least 50% of the population will have some sort of wearable tech during work hours, seamlessly integrated to their smartphones and transportation vehicles.
