Toyota says it can show you a few tricks to make your girlfriend happy, only it doesn’t involve her? Perhaps one of the silliest ads to come out for the Super Bowl this year belongs to the Japanese automaker Toyota.
So, how does Toyota cope with the underpowered 2.0-liter engine that produces 205-hp in the 86 and the FR-S? They resort to ads like this telling you how handling and corners is all you need. And a girlfriend of course, according to them. Because it all makes sense when you purchase your next sportscar?
So, the commercial gives you a four-step solution plan that begins with you ditching the girl to the spa, and then heading for the mountain roads for some twisties. “The 2017 Toyota 86. It’s not for everyone, is it for you?” No thanks, I’m good.
If you were one of the people who thought the 86 is worth buying after watching this commercial, expect to pay an MSRP of $26,255, AED 104,900 – That includes the six-speed manual transmission coupled to the 2.0-liter flat four engine producing 205-hp and 156 lb-ft of torque. Less than a Hyundai Genesis coupe with a 2.0-liter producing 210-hp.
Toyota recently gave the 86 a major hike of 5-hp and a minor facelift, unbelievably generous isn’t it.
Hint; if you want to make her happy, buy a Toyota Supra!
