There was once a time when Apollo were producing something called the Gumpert, a super fast, super ugly car that is old news now. This right here is the Apollo Intensa Emozione – one of the most aggressive supercars we have ever laid eyes on.
You might be wondering how Apollo came out with such a masterpiece? Partly because the company was sold out to Hong Kong businessman Norman Choi, who was determined to create something special, which he describes as a nostalgic GT1 racecar for the 21st century.
What’s with all that carbon? Yes, carbon fiber tubular chassis, carbon body panels, carbon crash boxes on the rear and front. The chassis weighs in at 105 kilograms.
The Apollo Intensa Emozione is capable of achieving 1,305kg of net downforce at 186mph which means the car could theoretically drive on the ceiling.
The car sports a mid-mounted 6.3-liter V12 engine that powers the rear wheels via a six speed Hewland pneumatic racing dogring gearbox. Mr. Choi was not interested in using any sort of turbocharging thus the engine is naturally aspirated. IT produces 769-bhp and is basically a reworked version of the LaFerrari’s engine by Italian engineering partner Autotecnica Motori. No prancing horse logo in sight though, you can connect the dots.
Surprisingly, the Apollo Intensa Emozione isn’t as fast as the Porsche 918 with a claimed 0-62mph in 2.7 seconds but it’s blisteringly fast indeed. The car tops out at 208mph. Although these numbers are very admirable, they still aren’t something to brag about in the hyper car world. Mr. Choi says he isn’t chasing speed, he’s looking for superior handling and noise on the race track.
The triplet exhaust is so unique that we’ve never seen anything like it before, it’s made using 3d laser printing technology which as Choi estimates – costs more than an entire BMW M4. Taking a closer look at the materials and we notice superior attention to detail on every panel and nut, all flowing together in harmony.
The Apollo Intensa Emozione features a built-in airjack and fully adjustable pushrod suspension. On the inside, the seats are cushions directly mounted onto the carbon tub while the steering and pedal box can be adjusted to meet the driver’s height requirements. Just like the LaFerarri.
If you’re excited, and we you probably are. Hold on to your €2.3m because only ten cars will be produced. The thing is; all ten of these Apollo Intensa Emozione supercars will be track only and illegal on the road.
