Everyone knows that electric cars can pack a deadly punch of instantaneous acceleration and huge amounts of horsepower. But, you need to charge them and they need to function properly beyond that as well.

The Lucid Air Sedan is promised to top the range and it won’t come cheap either; with a price tag of around $160,000 it really needs to be something much better than the model S for people to even consider purchasing one.

Lucid Air says their sedan is powered by two electric motors placed on each axle for a total combined power output of 1,000-hp. You then get to choose between a mega 130 kWh or a 100 kWh battery pack – the bigger one provides you with up to 400 miles of range on a single charge.

To rival the range topping P100D, the Lucid Air Sedan promises an identical acceleration time from 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. That’s as fast as a Bugatti Chiron.

Besides looking much better than a Tesla Model S, the Lucid Air Sedan is striking on the inside and on the outside. The design language translates into an airy overall feeling. You really do get the sense of having a luxurious spacious cabin with uber futuristic details .

A panoramic glass roof  that stretches all the way to the rear passengers is a unique features that sets the Lucid Air Sedan apart from the Tesla Model S. The increased interior space is not too intrusive, and the design captures that without looking too awkward (cough – Porsche Panamera)

The rear passengers get to enjoy the experience as well, with plenty of technology features and interactive display screens. The front is dominated with a huge center console screen that sort of merges with the instrument cluster digital display. In-short, you won’t feel the lack of technology in this minimalistic cabin.

When can we expect to see the Lucid Air Sedan? Somewhere around 2018 according to Lucid Motors – You can go ahead and deposit $25,000 if you feel the urge to be one of the first people to own this incredible electric sedan. On paper, this has the Tesla Model S in a very tight spot, and a less-expensive model is also in development.
