While the coupe version is still up for grabs, there are convertible and four door coupe body styles available for those who like a bit more space, and for 2015 receive more standard equipment.
The engine that powers the monster remains the same, the Turbocharged 4.4 Litre V8 that puts out an impressive 560hp and 500 lb-ft of torque, besting Mercedes’s AMG GT 503hp from their new 4.0 twin turbo engine. Even more shocking is the availability of an exclusive more powerful “Competition Package” that ups the power by 15hp making a total output of 575hp.
The 2015 BMW M6 is no slouch, although it weighs in at 4,200 pounds (1905KG) it can hit the 0-60 mph marker in 4.2 seconds, which is 0.5 seconds shy from the almighty light Mercedes AMG GT, while the 2015 BMW M6 Convertible hits 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds from a standstill.
Transmission for the M6 delivers power to the rear wheels by way of a seven speed M-DCT dual clutch transmission, which we are getting used to seeing lately while braking performance can be upgraded from the standard steel brakes, into a carbon ceramic set to suite the needy gearheads out there.
Changes to the exterior include adaptive LED headlights, a more aerodynamically shaped side mirror caps, a more pronounced grille, 19inch forged allow wheels (M6 Gran Coupe receives bigger 20inchers because it is GRAND), while the rest of the M6 remains the same. As for the interior of the 2015 BMW M6, expect allot of M equipments such as their custom sports steering wheels, instrument cluster, “M” gearshift lever, new head-up display unit, an enhanced style iDrive screen and a center console in black trim. satisfied Yet? No, well the M6 gets some swag as well, with a Merino full-leather interior followed by some delicate contrast stitching, electrically adjustable multifunction seats and an illuminated treadplates and foot pedals that say, hey this is an M car you are driving.
The previous generation M6 was a great car but nothing special compared to the M5 at that time, the 2015 BMW M6 gets a special paint finish option, BMW ConnectedDrive infotainment feature, and the driver assistance and mobility services that work incoherence. An intersting addition for those of you who like GoPro, was the the BMW GoPro app which syncs and operates the GoPro action camera mounted on any part in or out of the vehicle.
Expect the entire 2015 BMW M6 range to make its world debut this Detriot Auto Show on January the 12th.
