Most of you are already familiar with the gran turismo concepts that showcase manufacturers future plans and vision for their production cars. The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Is what you would expect a Porsche 918 race version to look like with a long tail of course.

But there is something rather interesting about the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo; the six car guys who worked on it said the 908-04 (code name for the car) was never aimed at production or becoming a real car. Instead, the concept focuses on bringing back the love of racing and mostly the feel of racing – the designers said “We wanted to create a car that nobody makes anymore. A ‘Back to basics’ kind of feel, mainly focused on generating a feeling for the love of racing.”

The idea of the project started life as a throwback to the 1969 Porsche 908 LH using a 918 Spyder and 919 race car architecture and the 908-04 managed to mash all of these cars together perfectly. From the looks of it, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo managed to take a lot of elements from the 918 like the exhaust pipes, the front fascia and other design elements with the overall look of the Porsche 908 LH dominating the profile of the car.

You can also find a lot of inspiration from the Porsche Mission E with the front end and side profile borrowing some bits here and there. The longtail was a must as designers explain; “We made the choice to have the longtail because Porsches with this feature have something genuinely unique. And until now, nobody, as far as we know, has tried to create a modern version of it. In our opinion, it is a bit of a forgotten idea, so we thought it would be a ‘rebirth of an icon’ that would generate nostalgia in car and Porsche enthusiasts alike”

Sadly though, the car is still not available on the PS4 Gran Turismo game. You can visit the www.porschevisiongt.com website to learn more about this concept and the release date of the car in the game.
