Sketches were teased days ago, but we finally got something worth talking about. The 800-hp Mercedes AMG GT concept with 4 doors, if true could be the biggest nightmare for performance sedan competitors.
Contrary to popular misconception, Mercedes calls this the AMG GT Concept and not the GT4. Although the production version might carry the GT4 designation it’s still unknown how Merc decides to approach this insane performance sedan.
Revealed days ahead of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the GT concept claims huge numbers that are making waves on the internet. They also say the car is much more complex than a stretched out GT with 4 doors.
Additionally, the GT concept introduces the new EQ Power+ designation which was introduced on the W08 F1 car, the 4 door sedan will feature a hybrid powertrain that incorporates the 4.0-liter V8 twin turbo engine with an electric motor to deliver 800-hp.
To put things into perspective, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid produces 671-hp and the world’s most poten sedan – the Hellcat Charger produces 707-hp. Mercedes AMG chief Tobias Moers says the 0-62mph is under three seconds and “corresponds to a super sports car level.”
The GT concept introduces adaptive aerodynamics, energy reciprocating ceramic brakes and ‘nano active fiber’ daytime running lights. But don’t expect to see anything from Mercedes regarding the GT concept during the Geneva motor show – instead they intead on revealing this hyper super sedan during the Frankfurt auto show later this year.
