The new 8th Generation Toyota Hilux has been unveiled at Bangkok and is now available for purchase by Thai consumers around the world. The new pickup-truck was redesigned by one thing in mind – offering more comfort on the inside while increasing toughness on the outside and improving the overall package appearance for consumers.
The new Eighth Generation Toyota Hilux will get a newly developed frame and suspension coupled with an enlarged side rail cross-section that improves comfort, safety and ruggedness. In the effort of making the Hilux a better off-roader, Toyota upgraded the shock absorbers and the leaf spring suspension to enhance off-road travel and ride comfort.
To make the 8th Gen Toyota Hilux more civil, Toyota offered customers three suspensions options for a even more fin-tuned ride; Comfort, Standard and Heavy-Duty. In addition to all these great upgrades Toyota will be offering the Hilux pickup with newly developed engines mated a new six-speed automatic transmission all of which enhance efficiency and reduce engine noise.
The debut vehicle in Bangkok was a Double-Cab which came equipped with a 2.8 liter turbodiesel I-4 engine producing 175 jp and 332 lb-ft of troque. As for the exterior’s new looks, expect a beefed up car that got enlarged wheel well flares, LED headlights, a sleeker grille and a tougher front bumper. On the inside thought, it looks like standard Toyota similar to the Camry and certainly much more comfortable than the older 7th gen Toyota Hilux.
We aren’t too sure when the new 2016 Toyota Hilux will make its way to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the U.S but each market will get a different spec with the more efficient engine choices going to the United States market which is likely going to opt for the bigger Tacoma.
