The Chinese Electric supercar, the Nio EP9 recently smashed the Lamborghini Huracan Performante’s blistering Nürburgring record and the Mclaren P1 LM has just declared itself king on the German Nordschleife by murking the EP9’s 6:45.9.
Helmed by McLaren test driver Kenny Bräck, the McLaren P1 LM is essentially a road going version of the P1 GTR track and was able to clock a verified 6:43.22. making it the fastest production car around the ring.
Lanzante is the company responsible for the P1 LM and the McLaren F1 GTR that won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans – Lanzante boss Dean Lanzante said; “I wouldn’t do anything to damage our relationship with McLaren, which we’ve built up over 20 years through our work on the F1,”
He’s referring to the quality of work put into the McLaren P1 LM with several parts left from the GTR like the gold-plated heat shielding, tweaked charge coolers and modified aerodynamics via a tweaked rear wing and a front new front splitter. Surprisingly enough, the McLaren P1 LM weighs less than the GTR version and boasts a 40 percent increase in downforce compared to stock.
