So the guys at Zapta have been tinkering with the idea of a Flyboard that works without the need of a jet-ski or any external force for a while now, and they have finally set a world record with their new Flyboard Air unit that works without any jet-ski and primarily on the jets within the board.

Although people have been questioning the authenticity of the flight; all sources confirmed it was in fact authentic and real. Franky Zapta from Zapta Racing in France have been doing this for a while now with their water propulsion boards, so this was just another step in advancing manned flight.

To make it possible for prototypes to be tested, Zapta decided to do all the tests on top of a water bed to avoid safety issues and get in as much flight time without any concerns of safety. They were able to fly for 3.55 minutes and go to an altitude of 2,252 meters. Although Zapta claims the Flyboard Air can get up to 10,000 feet and fly for 10 minutes without refueling reaching speeds of up to 93 mph which is pretty insane.

To see how far we have come with the Flyboard Air since man tried to indulge in this type of flight style, have a look at the pictures below and compare.
