The German giant VW group is planning to introduce a range of new Volkswagen Electric concepts within the coming two years. Those concepts will serve as the test-bed for the final production models expected within 2020.
The pictures you see of the Volkswagen Electric I.D. concept were shown after VW previewed the concept and the new electric power-train at the Paris Motor Show.
Volkswagen Group board member Jurgen Stackman mentioned how the company will slowly roll out the evolution of its electric range within the next 4 years; “I think in the next series of international motor shows you’ll see where we’re heading, more of the family thought.”
Obviously the I.D. hatchback will be joined with other body types like SUV’s and crossovers. Jurgen Stackman added; “We’re going to expand our SUV range widely, as this type of vehicle will be the dominating vehicle type…The shape of an SUV probably will play a certain role [in the EV family]. It seems to be the number-one wanted shape, so ignoring that would not be a wise decision.”
From the current stream of information, we are guessing the Volkswagen Electric range will borrow a lot of technology from the Porsche Mission E module which should spread across Audi, Bentley, Porsche and VW.
