Dubai is ready to embrace the Tram that will see to it that transportation to the Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and other close by areas in Jumeirah to be a hassle free.
Another big benefit to the Dubai Tram would be that it is connected to busy work areas like Knowledge Village Palm Jumeirah Monorail and Dubai Media City while the Dubai Metro is linked with the tramway at the JLT (Jumeirah Lake Towers) and Dubai Marina stations.
RTA announced that the Dubai Tram will be the world’s first tram to have synchronized platform screen doors, while being the greenest and safest tram that is being operated on ground electric cables through its entire network range of operations while also accommodating special needs passengers with two specially allocted spaces for those who have mobility aids, while helping them to get on through ramps designed for wheelchairs at the screen doors.
RTA has not announced pricing yet but said that fares will be calculated based on zones, very similar to pricing methods used for Dubai’s Metro and will also be via Nol cards with scanners placed at all entrances and exits of the stations.
The Dubai Tram will be able to carry over 405 passengers on seven divided carrigas with four silver class areas and one Gold class area and two women and children areas, allowing passengers to enjoy the freedom of travel on the network of two tracks that span the eight Kilometer stretch, while Dubai Marina gets its own single track for 2.5 Kilometers.
