Audi has just confirmed that they will launch three fully electric vehicles by 2020, and one of these vehicles will definitely rival the BMW i8 electric hybrid.
Not much information has been divulged, but the band’s chief executive Rupert Stadler did mention a few bits to the Auto Express mag during the Geneva Motor Show that reveal an electric SUV in the works in tandem with the Volkswagen I.D.
The BMW I8 could be considered one of the most affordable hybrid supercars you could purchase today, the R8 on the other hand works with naturally aspirated power alone. The brand’s supercar could do with a smaller engine and an electric motor assist via an Audi E-Tron R8 model to rival the I8.
Word on the street is; BMW is in fact working on a facelifted I8 that introduces way more power, sharper handling and a friendlier design to accommodate entrance and exit.
There could be a chance that Audi might in fact use the TT platform for a hybrid rival to the I8, or it could mean that the E-Tron is being developed further until the new I8 is released for benchmarking.
