Audi has been pushing stronger than ever this year with their popularity on the rise, especially with their latest design direction that saw sales pouring and expected to reach 1.7 million units by 2014’s ends.
But we aren’t discussing shenanigans and sales right now, let’s talk about the new potential A9 flagship sedan that is supposed to take the luxury market by storm, or lets say aim for the Mercedes S class better than the A8. Nobody knows how the A9 will look like exactly, but most have a clue that it would have the poise of an A8 and the sportiness of the R8.
Audi recently teased its last video for the A9 model which will be officially presented to the public in the world premiere during the 2014 Los Angles Auto Show on the 18th of November. Expect the Audi A9 to have over 600 hp (447 kW) as rumored and a 4.0 Liter V8 engine all to be released in early 2017 or late 2016.
The new design language will be a mixture of the current audi theme, and sharper lines with advanced engineering coupled with the single frame grille and laser headlights resulting in a much more aggressive lineup overall. The MLB Evo platform will host the A9 (if approved) and the next generation A8, and it will be the longest car the evo platform has seen.
Speculations are becoming stronger, as we recently saw in the Paris motor show where Audi unveiled a fastback 4 door Audi TT, Which leads us to believe that Audi is planning to make the Audi A9 the flagship that dictates the design language for the entire model range. You have Volkswagen’s group veteran Lichte to thank for what he has done to Audi and VW in terms of transforming the brands image and sales.
