Apple has just invested $1 Billion in Chinese Uber’s biggest competitor in China “Didi” which accounts for 11 million riders per day in China’s ride-sharing community. The move was announced after General Motors [NYSE:GM] said it was investing $500 million in Lyft – and since Google and Uber were also rumored to have been working on an autonomous ride-sharing service, Apple wanted a share of the pie.

The thing is; Apple is planing to have their own autonomous ride-sharing service car and they obviously need the app bassis and since Didi accounts for 90% of China’s ride sharing community it would be the perfect place to start.
