Just months after revealing the all new Suzuki Swift sedan and hatchback, the carmaker decided to release the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport to introduce an affordable hot-hatch to the market. The new Swift Sport gets plenty of new improvements including aerodynamic and design changes.
The new 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport receives dual exhausts, a new roof-mounted spoiler, 17-inch polished alloy wheels and a bright Champion Yellow paint job just for the Sport models. You get to also select from all the other colors available to the normal Swift range.
Besides visual improvements, the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport receives a new platform that is built to save weight, how much weight? 80kgs have been shed in hopes of increasing agility and response. The overall weight is a staggering 970 kilograms which is surprisingly lower than a Nissan Micra.
To make the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport even more lively, Suzuki dropped the naturally aspirated 1.6-liter petrol engine in favor of a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that puts out 138-hp and 230 NM of torque. A six speed manual is carried over from the older model with minor improvements. The GCC area will probably get a CVT transmission like before.
On the inside, the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport receives bucket seats with sports badge and red stitching. The rest of the interior is similar to the standard models with a bigger 7-inch infotainment screen, red accents here and there in addition to Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Safety tech includes lane departure warning, high beam assist, adaptive cruise control and weaving alert function.
Expect to see the new 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport in the UAE within early 2018 and expect it to be priced a tad higher than the range topping swift but still within an affordable price tag. The Swift is probably one of the most economical hatchbacks you can buy in the GCC.
