With the LF-LC concept getting mass-appeal around the globe, Lexus decided to turn that concept into a production model. Please welcome the all new 2018 Lexus LC Coupe, a car that brings the spirit of the LFA to the market with an affordable price tag and astonishing performance.
The 2018 Lexus LC Coupe will be available for sale in the US during the Spring of 2017. It’s not just a good looking sports car either, Lexus has put in the work to turn this LC 500 into a bonafide sports coupe that can handle corners and provide ampt performance figures.
The design is very inspirational in the sense that it really captures the essence of the LF-LC concept and brings back some of the Lexus LFA supercar vibes. taking a look at the profile of the LC 500 makes the point clear.
But don’t take my word for it – Chief Engineer Sato explains: “While maximizing the fundamental taste of the LF-LC, we applied completely different specifications to create a design that goes beyond the concept—a design that will captivate you as soon as you see it. In my view, pursuing beautiful design and elaborating great performance is very similar. Beauty is the identity of Lexus’ design. Every feature on the LC is the result of an integrated approach to design and engineering. All the teams worked together—engineers and designers alike. This is why we have been able to create such a great car.”
The new Lexus LC Coupe’s wheelbase measures in at 2,870 mm (113 inches) with an overhang of just 920 mm upfront and a 970 mm at the back.
The LC does not compromise on interior space as well, with a design that is driver focused and luxury based it manages to offer superior legroom for both the passenger and the driver. luxury is redefined with a hand-crafted shift knob, ultra luxurious leather, Alcantara and premium materials like Magnesium. The sound department dosen’t suffer either, with 13-speakers from the Mark Levnson audio systems you’ll be enjoying premium sound. Then there is the exhaust, the V8 exhaust sounds so good, people thought it was a Ferrari (Video below)
Sato said; “The audio system is able to make the cabin sound larger than it actually is, giving the listener the sensation of being in a concert hall rather than the interior of a vehicle”
The 2018 Lexus LC Coupe also offers great safety features like (take a deep breath) – All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision brake assist, Pre-Collision Pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Vehicle Sway warning. So what’s under the hood?
The 2018 Lexus LC 500 features a V8 engine producing 467-hp and 389 lb-ft of torque mated to a 10-speed Auto transmission – That’s way more than you would get in an Audi R8 V8 which produces 428-hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The LC 500 accelerates from 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.
Then there is the LC 500h with a 3.5-liter V6 producing 354-hp. It can do 0-62 mph in under 5 seconds, although the gearbox is just a 4-speed automatic.
The 2018 Lexus LC Coupe appears to be a great addition to the Japanese luxury family, with performance figures that can compete in such a segment it would be interesting to see how it fares out once it’s on sale.
