Packaged with the DNA of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and the Charger SRT, the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT borrows the 392 cubic-inch Hemi 6.4-liter V8 which pumps a respectable 475-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Good enough to blast you from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and further down the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds. Just 0.4 seconds slower than a 2015 Dodge Charger SRT 392.

Tim Kuniskis, head of Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat for FCA North America, said; “The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is America’s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV. This is what you get, when you take everything great about the Durango and combine it with the performance of the Charger SRT: a 12-second quarter mile, toy-hauling, three-row muscle car.”

The new Durango SRT isn’t just a powerful SUV with a V8 stuffed in the front. It includes a new cold-air intake, an updated TorqueFlite eight-speed with different calibration and all sorts of clever mechanical bits.

It also has a Track Mode and a Sport Mode. Put the Durango SRT in Track Mode and you will reduce transmission shift time by 70 percent compared to Auto mode dropping shift time to 160 milliseconds. Sport Mode reduces shift times by 50 percent while sending 65 percent of the torque to the rear wheels.

For other situations, you might find the Eco, Valet, Snow or Tow modes much more suitable.

To accommodate a faster, better handling ride, you need better suspension. The 2018 Dodge Durango SRT comes with Bilstein adaptive damping suspension on all four corners with 3 percent stiffer front springs and 16 percent stiffer rear springs. The rear sway bar is also stiffened by an extra 18 percent.

To stop this huge machine, you need bigger brakes. The SRT team gave the Durango six-piston brembo brakes upfront and four-piston rear calipers.

You will get to choose from 11 different exterior colors including Vice White, Sangria Metallica Clear Coat and Ocean Blue Clear Coat.

The interior of the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT features a flat bottomed performance steering wheel, 7-inch customizable gauge cluster, an 8.4-inch infotainment system with Uconnect (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) in addition to a 5-year SiriusXM trial.
