The 2015 Frankfurt Motorshow display yet another interesting addition from Infiniti, the 2017 Infiniti Q30 securing a spot in the premium compact class with a distinctive look and some nice engine choices. It adds to the current Infiniti line-up with a really attractive compact hatchback that challenges the current luxury hatchbacks offered by BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Volkswagen.
The 2017 Infiniti Q30 isn’t trying to look like a cross between an SUV and a hatchback, instead it works at making the good ol’ formula even better. The 2017 Infiniti Q30 is ready to be transformed into a crossover without the need for any changes aside from raising ride height and adding all wheel drive, that would be the new QX30 crossover if you happen to be wondering. Basically what current manufacturers are doing with their cars like the Volvo S60 trans to S60 Cross Country, Mercedes with their CLA trans GLA models and Audi with their A4 and Allroad models.
Another interesting bit is the start of a new partnership between Nissan (Infiniti mother company) and Mercedes-Benz which sees that the new 2017 Infiniti Q30 get the Front-drive MFA platform used in the CLA and GLA models from Mercedes. Mercedes-Benz also donates the 2.0-liter turbocharged I-3 engine rated at 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque mater to a seven speed dual-clutch transmission. Other options include the 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 125 hp and 258 lb-ft which wont be sold in the U.S, while the 1.6-liter I-4 and the 1.5-liter turbo-diesel I-4 units will be available to the American market.
