The mid-size sedan segment is saturated with boring economical boxes that all do the same thing and almost all look the same. The 2017 Hyundai Azera is embarking on a new journey to add a little bit of snazz to an increasingly boring segment.
With cars like the Toyota Avalon and the Honda Accord dominating the segment, the 2018 Azera comes in as very welcoming addition that borrows some of the best lines and puts them into good use. That’s right, we see the C-class inspiration and we don’t mind it one bit! I mean, i’m all against comparing cars and accusing designers of stealing ideas – but damn, this thing looks the part.
The Koreans aren’t easing off, with the 2017 Hyundai Azera redesigned to “spearhead a new era” according to them. It’s also very similar to the Genesis models released earlier and is expected to act as the brands luxury “Lexus ES” sort of model.
The Azera is also very well equipped on the inside, with a cockpit that has been redesigned to look and feel upscale with brown leather, grey aluminum and piano black inserts. I’m not sure if the materials have been improved, but that’s gotta wait until the 2017 Hyundai Azera reaches Dubai shores.
Hyundai does however state that“new paint technologies and enriched materials demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship that delivers Hyundai Motor’s Modern Premium experience for a new, sophisticated demographic of premium car owners.”
As for the engines that power the new Azera; expect the same four and six cylinder engines with a slight power upgrade and better fuel economy. The Azera goes on sale in Korea next month.
