For the first time ever, the new 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel will be offered with two gearboxes; a manual and an automatic gearbox.
This report came in after GM “General Motors” reported poor sales on the previous-generation Chevrolet Cruz that was exclusively available with a six-speed automatic, which made GM revise their plan for the 2017 model.
The manual gearbox will be however offered on all the trim levels except for the top-of-the range Premier model. It will also be offered on the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel sedan and hatchback body styles. This was confirmed by GM Canada product manager Paul Hewitt.
The new Chevrolet Cruze Diesel will be equipped with GM’s 1.6-liter engine replacing the 2.0-liter unit. This engine provides 136-hp and 275 lb-ft of torque which means it’s more efficient but a tad less powerful than the 2.0-liter unit which manged 151 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.
Let’s see of this move works out for them as they try and pull sales away from Volkswagen’s diesel offerings.
