BMW has a long history of making awesome overpowered luxury sports cars that carry the Alpina badge, and when there is no M next to a 7 (M7) we get a B7 which is the next best thing and just as good. The new 2017 BMW Alpina B7 comes in the form of a B7 xDrive which is faster and better than the current B7 xDrive which packs only 540 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque – while very respectable they still don’t match the Audi S8 plus with 605 generous ponies and the Mercedes AMG S63’s monstrous 577 hp.

Alpina wasn’t sitting still, they knew they can squeeze a couple more horses from the B7 xDrive, thus we got the new 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive BiTurbo with 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque packaged with an 8 speed automatic from the 750i.

The heavy luxury sedan is then able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds as Alpina claims, a number that is very respectable if true! and to top it of the 2017 BMW Alpina B7 can reach to an electronically limited 193 mph – To make the car feel properly fast, Alpina put in their own intercooler, turbochargers and the intake designs which allow the heavy full size sedan to have 494 lb-ft of torque available at 2,000 rpm.

The handling department isn’t all that improved with the air suspension system lifted from the standard 7-series and the all-wheel-drive unit. Alpina added their own settings for adjustable dampers and four-wheel steering system which increase the overall dynamic handling and agility thanks to a smart system which steers the rear-wheels opposite the fronts during corners.

Visual enhancements to the 2017 BMW Alpina B7 saw 20-inch Alpina multi-spoke wheels covering four-piston brake calipers that need to stop 15.5 inch discs up front and 14.5 inch discs in the rear, while not all that impressive they do the job. The rest is all Alpina standard procedure, with the Alpina logo being seen all over the interior and on the engine cover. Alpina also adds their signature leather trim and special accents on the steering wheel and dash with custom Alpina treadplates.
