Audi has been on fire recenetley with their entire fleet ranging from the incredible RS7 to their raucous 2017 Audi RS3. But this right here is the 2017 Audi RS1 which is set to rival the Mini Cooper John Cooper works with 280-bhp, Quattro 4WD and sick looks.
Since it was approved by Audi execs, the 2017 Audi RS1 should go on sale by 2017 with a price tag of around £30,000 in the UK. This is of-course the smaller version of the hot-hatchback rivalry which means the 2017 Audi RS1 is going head to head with cars like the Volkswagen Polo R, the Renault Clio RS, the Golf GTI and mainly the Mini Cooper John Works which the RS1 was benchamarked against.
The engine powering the RS1 is expected to be the EA888 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which will develop 280-hp with a couple of upgrades and better breathing. If you are comparing it to current Audi models, the current S1 develops 228-hp and the S3 develops 296-hp which puts it bang in the middle.
Acceleration should be somewhere in the high 5 second range and gearbox choices are limited to a six-speed manual and a dual-clutch seven-speed and just like the S1, the RS1 is also expected to receive a standard multi-plate clutch four-wheel drive system.
