The new 2016 Kia Optima looks like it is going to set the trend for Kia’s new design language one more time, just like it blew sales records back in 2010 in the New York Auto Show with the new shape that shock every grandma, Mercedes, Jaguar and your neighbors son. It was really something new for Kia, and it represented their will to compete fiercely in the mid-size segment market with their third generation Optima to battle the likes of Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord.

Just earlier this month, Kia unvieled the new Sportspace concept which is basically a station wagon that looks spacey and super sophisticated, nothing you would guess came out of Kia’s design studio. But what was really special about the Sportspace concept was the fact that it displayed the future potential of Kia’s new design language which we should be seeing in 2017. The teased shots of this 2016 Kia Optima are actually production sketches expected to make it to the showroom floor in 2016.

Don’t mistake the futuristic approach here for something that will be looked-over, they are actually considering every bit of this design to make it onto the production model. The dimensions will obviously be changed, with a taller roof-line and an overall understated design although we expect it to be lower than the current model which gives it great handling capabilities.

The 2015 New York Auto Show is still scheduled for April 1st, and we expect both Kia and Hyundai to unveil the Optima and the Sonata due to the shared platform and power-train options.

If you happen to live in the UAE – Dubai, we are sure the 2016 Kia Optima will make it as soon as it gets released in late 2015 and it should bring in a new Hybrid power train, a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine producing between 250-290 hp and then some.
