Short tail, long hood proportions are evermore increasingly sexy in the automotive world; cars like the F-type, the E-type, the new AMG GT, the 250GTO, the Dodge Viper, the Lamborghini Miura the Toyota 2000GT, the new Mazda RX Vision and the Alfa Romeo Zagato ZT3 stradale. These are just some of the cars that come to mind, and perhaps many among my favorites, but long tail cars are equally sexy of course – just look at the Diablo.
Now, the reason i’m blabbering about proportions is because Buick gave us a fastback design with a semi long hood although a bit fat it manages to get people talking. I for one, didn’t find the Buick Avista concept all too interesting but I do see why people are talking about it. It does manage to add some flare to a rather boring marque like Buick but with concepts like the Faraday FFZERO1, the Acura Precision Concept and the 2017 Infiniti Q60 concept – The Buick Avista falls short in terms of pushing the boundaries.
But where the Buick Avista loses points on the exterior, it more than makes up for it in the interior department with a low-slung design and innovative sweeping lines it certainly brings the concept up a notch.
The engine that powers the Avista is a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 producing 400 hp being delivered through the rear wheels.
