Put the mug down said the women who was looking over my shoulder, 3.7 seconds she whispered in my ear, 640hp she muttered in distress, as i slowly but surely turned around to admire her interest while in complete awe. (You get the hint)
This is simply the effect of a 4 door luxury Sedan capable of doing a 0-60 mph time in under 4 seconds, 3.7 to be exact. It wasn’t so long ago when the previous generation Cadilac CTS-V took the Luxury Sedan market by storm in 2008, and grabbed the fastest saloon record from the well established BMW M5, the CTS-V was not only fast back then with its 556hp supercharged V8 it looked mean and mad as well.
As for the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, we weren’t disappointed at all to say the least. Cadillac’s (V) division are catered for the smiles department down in isle “get your shit together” and produce a really loud, really fast, and pretty good looking car. And the engineers haven’t failed to deliver, let me be blunt.. The 2016 BMW M5 puts out 575hp and the 2016 Mercedes E63 AMG puts out 577 both of which are direct competitors to the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V which has 640hp and 630 lb-ft of torque pumped out of its 6.2 Liter LT4 V8 unit which also makes it stronger than the Ferrari 458 Speciale and the new Lamborghini Huracán, hell it even packs more horses than Pigani Zonda’s S and F models with a 7.0L and a 7.3L AMG engine that puts out 540hp and 594 respectively, both of which accelerate around the sub 3 second range.
By now, you are about to meme your self an I want the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V because I might be able to afford it. And we don’t blame you, whats there not to like.. Luxury, speed, power and sound at a price that is likely to keep the roof you have over your head and make sure it stays there.
So, Cadillac is pretty serious when it comes to performance; fuel injection, cylinder deactivation, a 200 mph top speed, rear wheel drive like it should be, and the great 8L90 eight speed Automatic transmission with paddle shifters and launch control. Sign me up please!
Don’t forget that the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V gets a track specific design, with chassis and suspension upgrades to cope with the power on board and give the heavy sedan some cornering abilities like fat spider man’s heavy duty web shooters. Furthermore, the CTS-V gets big Brembo brakes, a carbon fiber hood, Third Generation uprated Magnetic Ride Control suspension that has dampening 40 percent faster response than before, track tuned traction & stability control systems. structural enhancements that increase stiffness by 25% and a wider track.
Optional for the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V are hood vents, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler fitted and made from carbon fiber components only. Rims are 19 inch lightweight forged aluminum wheels, 9.5 inchese wide upfront and 10 inches wide in the rear. Wrapped in Tires that come in a specially developed Michelin Pilot super sport disguise (These are the best, we tried them on different cars and they stick to the road like glue! almost as good as the track developed Pirelli Pzero Trofeo’s) hammering down corners while recording an insane 1 G lateral acceleration thanks to the low mass forging technique in the construction of the wheels that help reduce unsprung weight adding agility and speed points to the big Sedan.
Wait there is more? Yes, Suspension and electronic power steering system got a tune to make them quicker and responsive due to the harmony between the two with an electronic limited-slip differential to increase handling abilities. Add to that the beefed up Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers two-piece 15.3 inch steel discs upfront and 14.3 inch discs in the rear with four piston calipers, who needs ceramic brakes anyways.
Now, for the least interesting part of the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, the Interior. And I say that mainly because I feel Cadillac dropped the ball on this one, and got too greedy after hitting a home run. Of course, the Interior got performance-oriented treatment to suit the exterior with suede microfiber accents and matte-finish carbon fiber trim to match. Seats are from Recaro that feature an adjustable bolster to help the driver select a tighter fit for track runs and spirited driving with standard front seats getting 20-way adjustable positions with heating and ventilation
Safety hasn’t been neglected either, with parking technologies aided with a front curb-view camera system, which basically helps the driver avoid curbing the front splitter (who wants to curb them Carbon Fiber splitters neways.) Parking assist for parallel and perpendicular parking, side blind zone alert, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and forward collision alert. The CUE infotainment system will carry on to the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V with all the standard equipment offered in the CTS. It is really hard to believe GM was capable of doing such great things since not so long ago, they declared bankruptcy and got a government bail out.
