If you live in the GCC, then you are familiar with both the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Nissan Patrol. There is no two ways about it, and it is no secret that both these ferocious SUV’s are more than capable of handling the desert heat and the day to day snuggle.
The infamous 2015 Toyota Land cruiser recently received a face lift that looks like it was inspired by the Falcons aggressive look, that is what it looks like to us at least. While this face lift isn’t what you would consider a root change it still is something.
I am gonna go ahead and say it, Toyota kind of dropped the ball on the design of the front fascia for the 2015 Toyota Land cruiser, simply because they aren’t following suit with their own design direction seen in the newer 2015 Toyota Camry and 2014 Toyota Corolla. But that isn’t a bad thing, and I know that by saying this I might sound like a hypocrite. I just find that sometimes each model should have its own unique design and identity that differentiates it from the rest of the lineup, as opposed to what Mercedes is doing with their 2015 lineup that looks like The Mercedes S Class had too many identical babies in different sizes, just look at the C-Class and the E-Class.
While taking a look at the past, you may realize that Toyota offered an awesome simple off-roader that was less luxurious, lighter and versatile. But like all things, technology took over, forcing Toyota to evolve the Land Cruiser into a luxurious offering while managing to keep all its off pavement capabilities, it just isn’t as raw as it used to be. Just look at it’s big brother the 2014 Lexus GX460, I just wonder how that will look when Lexus applies its new (off the hook) design direction to it.
Now, one must address the elephant in the room “The 2014 LR Range Rover” that has rivaled the Toyota Land Cruiser to the ends of earth, while it should be compared to the Lexus equivalent it still is comparable to the higher end Land Cruiser models. It has been seen that the Range Rover has been an arch nemesis to the Land Cruiser, yet the price tag shunned many desert dwellers to even bother and take their expensive SUV sand bashing, giving the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser king status when it comes to desert and off-road trips.
The interior of the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser is nothing short of luxurious, and provides amble space for all 5 occupants and what ever package that comes along with them. Not only will your passengers sit in pure comfort, they will be entertained by the added features like the rear entertainment package, Bluetooth connectivity, Ice cool rear Air Conditioning, and an extra fridge for those far trips. Yet, the only thing that seems to put the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser down, would be it’s price and its thirsty fuel appetite with the top spec VXR consuming over 15.7 Liters each 100km and costing 310,000 Dhs as well.
The engines offered for 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser will be the same old engines, with bigger engines the higher you go in the price/options range. The 5700 pound SUV will be aided by
- 4.0 Liter V6 – 4WD – that has 271 hp and 385 ft-lb of torque which can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and returns around 13 L/100km of mileage via 5 speed auto/manual
- 4.6 Liter V8 – 4WD – that has 304 hp and 439 ft-lb of torque which can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and returns around 13.7 L/100km of mileage via 6 speed auto
- 5.7 Liter V8 – 4WD – that has 362 hp and 530 ft-lb of torque which can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.0 seconds and returns around 15.7 L/100km of mileage via 6 speed auto
