The 2013 BMW X1 has not been a fan favorite here in the UAE, due to its obscure design and its underpowered engines. It has always been a family SUV that is preferred by simply commuters who prefer the comfortable spacious luxury SUV. And it has always done just that, nothing more, nothing less. Although it is a smaller crossover than the bigger X3, BMW is not trying to impress with this certain model. The X1 has really good smooth ride and a handling trade-off, with crisp cornering and low weight.
It is equipped with a four cylinder turbo charged 240hp engine, and a six cylinder 300hp engine, both noisy when they accelerate. The car feels small and compact, in design and in the interior. It felt kind of spacious in the front, and tight in the back.
The 2013 BMW X1 would be a good choice, for a family looking to upgrade from a smaller sedan, into a good cross over with enough room for the children. The only down side would be the cargo space in the back, where you would expect to pack a lot of stuff for family trips, and journeys.
